Interim Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life

The Interim Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) provides daily leadership and operational management for a robust FSL campus community. The role actively engages students, campus partners, alumni, inter/national partners, and stakeholders to enhance responsible leadership, promote community engagement, and ensure the long-term success of sorority and fraternity life on campus. The FSL community at WVU is composed of over 4,000 student members across 90+ recognized fraternal organizations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Interim Director will be responsible for the overall management of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life including eight (8) sororities that comprise the Panhellenic Association, five (5) fraternities and sororities that comprise the National Pan-Hellenic Council, eighteen (18) fraternities and sororities in the Interfraternity Council, twenty (20) organizations in the Professional Greek Council and 43 organizations in the Honor Council.

  • Advising, management and oversight for fraternity and sorority governing councils, honor societies, peer education groups, and alumni groups including:

    • Advising WVU Panhellenic Association, National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and the Interfraternity Council including overseeing recruitment processes.

    • Advising Order of Omega and Gamma Sigma Alpha honor societies.

    • Managing The Honor Council, the representative advocacy council for the academic honor societies.

  • Administrative duties and responsibilities for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life:

    • Managing Hazing Prevention Task Force, Student Conduct issues, and Clery Reporting

    • Overseeing Academic Reporting and Roster Management

    • Providing Advisor Coaching/Development

    • Coordinating Program Development and Educational Programming

    • Supervising of Graduate Assistants and Student Work-Study Staff

    • Providing Student Organization and Event Support

    • Working flexible hours including weekend and evenings, including social event policy enforcement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in student affairs or higher education administration or related field.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in a higher educational setting or with an inter/national fraternity or sorority headquarters.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Membership in a Greek-Letter organization

  • Understanding of inter/national fraternity and sorority policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of best practices related to Fraternity and Sorority Life policies and management.

  • Outstanding leadership, management and interpersonal skills to relate and work with a variety of students, faculty, staff, parents, advisors, alumni, and community members.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the expectations and obligations of local, state, and federal laws that impact student organizations, such as Clery, FERPA, Title IX, etc.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Self-starter, responsible work habits, personal maturity.

POSITION DETAILS

  • The Interim Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life is a temporary, six+ month role that is available immediately.

  • The position will be onsite in Morgantown, West Virginia with minimal opportunities for hybrid work.

  • The target salary is approximately $90,000 (annualized) and support for local housing is available if needed.
